Awakening Shakti, Pavarti (Deity Yoga)
Goddess in you, Goddess in Yoga
The sages of Tantra have known for centuries that when you follow the path of Shakti, the sacred feminine principle personified by the “goddess”/ess of Yoga, these gifts can manifest spontaneously. Yet most women (and men) have yet to experience the full potential of our inner female energies. When you realise that all of these powers are within you, they heighten to open your capacity for spirituality, love more deeply, and fearlessley. You invite a new energy as you embrace all that is within you.
Awakening Shakti, by Sally Kempton
One question I often ask is, How do I co-exist in a society and live my life with balance, especially my spiritual endeavours. How do I show up for my self in life, and fully embrace my feminine spirituality. Then it landed for me. I can, through living and breathing the work of Goddess.
In Sally’s teachings, you learn to move through life with skill, and delight and in her book, she teachers a wealth of meditations, mantras, stories and practical guidelines for recognising the Hindu deities, (Goddesses as archetypal Shakti energies). I find myself going back to her readings and reconnecting with goddess often and feel particularly inspired by inviting in and recognising 3 goddesses of the Holy trinity *, and Kali:
- Kali, bringer of strength, fierce love and untamed freedom
- Lakshmi, who confers prosperity and beauty (Vishnu shakti)*
- Saraswati, for clarity communication and intution (Brahma shakti)* plus she rides everywere on a white swan! Go girl
- Pavarti, the awaken creativity and the capacity to love (Shiva Shakti)*
There are many more Goddesses in Deity Yoga, Rhada, who carries divine energy and spiritual belonging or Lalita Tripura Sundari, Goddess of Erotic Spirituality, and as I turn toward my Crone years, harnesssing the momenteum of Chinnamasta, goddess of transformation and estatic empowerment will be soul serving. You see, that is the power of the goddess, you recognise and invoke her. She is within you.
Pavarti is the goddess of sacred union, partnership and mother
And as we turn toward this beauty, the Mountain Maiden, enjoy the cosmic partnership, the supreme Yogini. In working with this energy, I highly recommend you discover her book. Awakening Shaki is a forever gift of inspiration and wisdom. The gift that keeps on giving.
Reflection
Indian Mythology is complicated. There are stories that are interwoven and twisted. Perceptions which may be new or challenging. In framing this work, it is not based in Religion, (although to practising Hindu’s) it can be.
Are there immediate sensations that rise within you when you contemplate “Shakti” energy.
Activity
Your course material is ready to download, enjoy the introduction into Goddess Pavarti. (In addition, I work with Ostara for Spring and the maiden time remembering and Lilith, the Wild Earth Goddess for ceremony). There are many archetypes for many intentions. Enjoy
